All-Haitian Robotics Team Takes The Gold
At the It Takes a Village Academy in East Flatbush, Margely Saint-Pierre, who had his high school destroyed in the earthquake last year, is a member of a robotics team that’s made up almost entirely of Haitian immigrants like himself.
Two weeks ago, their robot took first place in a competition at the Javits Center by outperforming robots from 63 other schools from around the country.
Now the students, represent one of only two public schools in New York to earn a chance to enter their robot in a prestigious competition in St. Louis, to compete against 100 of the top schools in the world. But they need to raise money to pay for the trip.
